On April 2, 2023, multiple reports of vehicle crime and burglary-related offences were made in the Astley Bridge area of Bolton.

In response to these incidents, Greater Manchester Police commenced an investigation. The efforts resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old man on April 11, 2023, on suspicion of 14 theft and burglary offences.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated: "The local team immediately began looking into the incidents and following a thorough investigation, secured the arrest."

The suspect remains in custody for questioning as investigations continue.

GMP is now appealing to anyone who may have further information or who might have been a victim of a similar offence to come forward.

Sergeant Thomas Bayliss from GMP’s Bolton Neighbourhood Crime Team emphasized the seriousness of these crimes, stating: “Burglaries and thefts can feel like very personal crimes and we are absolutely dedicated to investigating them to the best of our ability.”

Bayliss highlighted their commitment to community safety, saying, “I hope that this shows our commitment to keeping the streets of Bolton safe and securing arrests where we can. I would urge anyone with information to get in touch as we carry on with our work.”
