Jennifer Barry Sentenced for Violent Attack

In April last year, Jennifer Barry, 27, was involved in a brutal incident after sending chilling messages to a woman. Following a birthday party and under the influence of alcohol, Barry escalated tensions by accusing the victim of not supporting her during a dispute.
After sending a series of abusive and threatening messages, Barry proceeded to the victim's home in Merseyside in the early hours. At approximately 3:45 AM, she knocked and then kicked the door open, leading to a violent confrontation.
Barry attacked the woman with a broken beer bottle, inflicting serious injuries and requiring the victim to receive 25 to 30 stitches, resulting in a permanent scar.
During the court proceedings at Liverpool Crown Court, Judge Andrew Menary KC remarked on the chaos Barry caused during the night. He highlighted her issues with alcohol and her aggressive behavior.
Jennifer Barry was found guilty of multiple charges including section 18 wounding with intent, two counts of section 20 wounding, criminal damage, and possession of an offensive weapon. She entered guilty pleas in October.
In her defense, attorney Philip Astbury acknowledged the inevitability of a custodial sentence, citing Barry's regret for her actions. He noted that she had recently given birth to her third child and was in a mother and baby unit at HMP Styal.
Judge Menary sentenced Barry to five years and seven months in prison and imposed a restraining order to protect the victim from further harm.
