On July 28, 2023, Michael Brock, a violent rapist, was sentenced to life in prison for his horrific attack that left two men severely injured. Brock received a life sentence with a minimum term of 22 years after being found guilty of three counts of attempted murder, rape, and threats to kill.
The incident unfolded when two women, one known to Brock, returned home with two men after a night out. Shortly after their arrival, one of the women received a Facebook message from 'Mike David', confirming her fears that it was Brock, who had a restraining order against her.
As expected, Brock arrived with a rucksack containing a hammer, a knife, a foldable saw, rags soaked in accelerant, and other sinister items, indicating a premeditated plan to kill one of the women.
Upon entering the property, Brock brutally attacked the two men, causing serious and life-threatening injuries in the kitchen. One victim suffered a fractured skull and extensive hospital treatment.
Meanwhile, the terrified women managed to escape barefoot to the nearby police station, where they reported the attack with the help of bystanders who called emergency services.
Police officers arrived at the scene to find Brock restrained by the victims, who were covered in blood, and subsequently arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder.
A search of Brock's home revealed more knives, propane alcohol, and a petrol canister, believed to be part of his murderous plot against one of the women. Additionally, one of the women informed police that Brock had raped her nearly three years prior.
In court, Brock was convicted of three counts of attempted murder and one count of rape. His life sentence ensures he will spend a significant amount of time in custody for his violent actions.
Detective Inspector Natasha Feerick from City of Manchester CID commented on the case: “Brock's actions were meticulously planned, and he intended to kill. The consequences of his brutal assault will haunt his victims for life.”
She added, “Our CID team worked diligently to bring Brock to justice, ensuring he will spend years behind bars reflecting on the devastating impact of his actions. We also commend the bravery of the rape survivor for supporting this challenging case.”
Detective Feerick concluded, “We welcome the conviction and hope it provides some solace to the victims as they begin to heal from this horrific experience.”
