Burglar Caught in Manchester Hotel

A peculiar burglary incident took place in Manchester's city centre at the Mitre Hotel. Ryan Parker, a 49-year-old from Wythenshawe, was caught on CCTV wearing a high-vis jacket after sneaking into the hotel at around 5am.

The night porter first noticed Parker when she heard a noise and spotted him on the CCTV cameras. Though wearing a high-visibility jacket, an unusual choice for a burglar, Parker attempted to steal a TV from the hotel’s bar area.

After swiftly calling the police, officers apprehended Parker as he was in the act. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Manchester Crown Court, considering his extensive criminal record which includes over 150 offences.

Parker was found guilty of burglary with the intent to steal. He later claimed his actions were prompted by drunkenness and homelessness. His attorney stated that he was remorseful, acknowledging he needed to turn his life around.

Recorder Imran Shafi KC urged Parker to use his time in custody to reconsider his future, advising him to stay away from alcohol and seek legitimate employment upon release.
