A man was the victim of a robbery in Tameside after arranging to meet someone through the Grindr app. The incident occurred on September 2.

The perpetrator connected with the victim via the dating platform and subsequently stole his phone. The suspect also used a homophobic insult against the victim, according to Greater Manchester Police.

Authorities have detained a 19-year-old suspect on suspicion of robbery. He is currently in custody for further questioning related to the incident.

Investigating officers are treating the robbery as a targeted attack and believe that money might also have been stolen. Multiple lines of inquiry are being pursued.

Police are also investigating the possibility that there could be more victims. They urge anyone who might have experienced similar incidents to come forward.
