To the community, Robert Holden was seen as an admirable councillor: approachable, kind, and charitable. His public demeanor hid his darker side.

However, his facade crumbled, revealing a perverted individual. This image was captured by one of Holden's hidden cameras.

Holden, a councillor in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, secretly filmed his victims using hidden cameras installed in his two homes. The footage included intimate scenes without their consent. He carefully maintained his public image while concealing his disturbing actions.

For over 15 years, Holden managed to keep his nefarious behavior hidden. He filmed 25 women, one man, and one child. He even recorded himself engaging in sexual activities, creating folders with graphic titles for his personal satisfaction.

Holden displayed a completely different persona to the public, portraying himself as a charitable and respected community figure. Even when caught, he attempted to deceive and manipulate those around him.

When his actions were eventually discovered, many of his victims were unaware they had been secretly recorded. He tried to escape justice by fleeing to Cape Verde but eventually faced extradition and prosecution.

One victim shared her distress upon discovering the extent of Holden's betrayal, having once offered him comfort and support. She described her heartbreaking experience of identifying herself in the images he took.

Holden attempted to evade the consequences of his crimes but was eventually sentenced to six years and two months in prison. He showed no remorse, keeping his head down during the proceedings.

He will spend two-thirds of his sentence in custody and remain on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Additionally, Holden will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.

Detective Inspector Jarrod McSharry commented on the severity of Holden's betrayal of trust. He highlighted the victims' bravery and emphasized the importance of reporting sexual offences. Every report is treated with utmost seriousness and investigated thoroughly.
