In a heartbreaking case, 9-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel was killed in her home in Liverpool. The incident occurred on August 22 last year, as Olivia was caught in a shooting involving Thomas Cashman and another man, Joseph Nee.

Olivia, frightened by the noise outside, ran to her mother, Cheryl Korbel, when the tragic event unfolded. Thomas Cashman allegedly fired shots at Joseph Nee, who sought refuge in Olivia’s home, resulting in the fatal shooting of Olivia.

Nee, attempting to escape from Cashman, ran towards the Korbel household, leading to a chaotic and tragic sequence of events. Olivia’s mother tried to prevent Nee from entering, but he forced his way in.

In the attempt to protect her family, Cheryl Korbel was injured in the hand by a bullet that eventually took Olivia’s life, hitting her in the chest. Olivia's siblings recounted the terrifying moments as Olivia screamed for her mother in fear.

Despite the efforts of armed police and medical personnel, Olivia was pronounced dead at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. The prosecution argued that Cashman's reckless pursuit of Nee led to the unintended and tragic death of Olivia.
